General

o As a small business we are committed to helping make your experience amazing! You are not dealing with a big corporation, but a small business built by maintaining a great reputation. Additionally, we have operated on Turo for several years and still do here. However, due to the large number of guests who mentioned paying extra “hidden” fees we decided to provide our clients the option to book with us directly which helps you save money and supports us a local small business.

We have a couple photographers we work with, message the team and we can hook you up!

Only the approved drivers listed on the contract and approved by Overdrive Car Rentals may drive the vehicle.

Absolutely, we are happy to do customized delivery. Please note that there is a cost involved and we typically only deliver within a 15 mile radius of our location. However, we also deliver to DCA and IAD airport.

Most of the time this is a no-go for us at Overdrive. However, in rare cases we have been able to make arrangements to do one-way travel. It costs a pretty penny though!

We absolutely do! We will provide you with some great deals for long term rentals!

Booking

At Overdrive we require all guests to be over 21 years of age due to our insurance requirements. However, if you are under 21 feel free to see if you can book with us on our Turo profile located here.

  • You MUST provide personal insurance or purchase a policy during checkout with Rental Cover.  Your policy will be verified through Axle.  

 

ADDITONAL INFO: 

  • All drivers for Overdrive rental vehicles must carry an active US insurance policy which covers the reservation period.  We partnered with Axle to verify your coverage.  You will complete verification once you complete your initial booking.
  • We Partnered with Rental Covers to provide Insurance for Economy Vehicles.  If you do not have personal insurance you can still book with us by purchasing this during checkout.  You will need to select the Collision Damage Waiver. 

      • Renter must have liability, comprehensive,  and collision coverage which covers the value of the vehicle being booked.
        • Most Economy Cars will be covered under your current policy. 
      • For our EXOTIC  vehicles there are specific requirements for the coverage to cover the full value of the vehicle being booked. If your limits are lower than this, you can temporarily increase your limits with your insurance carrier see our blog post (here) on this topic.
        • You can also purchase supplemental liability insurance for your rental (Here).
      • Deductibles:
        • Comprehensive: with maximum $1000 deductible
        • Collision: with maximum $1000 deductible
        • Uninsured Motorist Property Damage Coverage: 75K.

    Remember if you are not comfortable providing insurance or do not have this capability you can always visit our Turo profile here and book with us through that platform which does not require personal coverage as they sell their own protection plans.

Sadly, we cannot rent to those with foreign licenses. However, you may still be able to book our cars if you have a foreign driver’s license by booking with us through our Turo Profile here

Payment

We accept all major credit or debit cards!

Yes, we allow those with Debit Cards to book you are just subject to a $250 additional deposit.

We require that you provide your own personal insurance for our rentals.  However, you can purchase insurance for qualified vehicles during the checkout process. 

Yes, we do! Subscribe to Overdrive News and you will get all the discounts sent your way!

We pride ourselves on having no hidden fees! There are some incidental costs you might incur if you don’t bring the car back full or if you bring your vehicle back late that you can find on our policies pages. However, 90% of all guests never pay a fee.

On Trip

Honestly, it’s rare that guests go over limits. Each vehicle is different but typically 150-200 miles per rental day is authorized! There is a fee for additional mileage which is outlined in your contract based on the vehicle rate.

No off-roading, track use, illegal activity, excessive speeding and some more. You can find a whole list in our Vehicle Use Policy here

No, only approved drivers listed on the rental contract and verified by Overdrive Car Rentals may drive the vehicle. If you want to add several additional drivers then you may find that its easier to book one of our vehicles via our Turo profile here.

Changes/Cancellations

You can always extend your rental period by

If you cancel more than 24 hours in advance, then you will receive a full refund!  If you cancel with less than 24 hours’ notice then you will receive a partial refund.  See our entire refund policy here.

Incidents

Make sure you are safe first and foremost! Then call the police and have an officer come down and write a police report. Once that’s done contact us at Overdrive and we will help you take care of the rest and either file a claim or pay for damages directly depending on severity. In our first 2500 guests we’ve only had 1 vehicle totaled so just keep driving safely out there!

We collect a security deposit which is designed to be used to help offset your deductible. If the vehicle is damaged, either you or your insurance company will cover the damage to the vehicle.

Pickup/Drop Off

We want to make your experience as exceptional and exciting as possible. Our motto is literally Where Every Mile is Exceptional so enjoy the thrill. Weddings, proposals, date night, whatever it might be, you let us know and we will do our best to make it happen!

We have a simple 4 step process for check-in. Most of the time it’s contactless.

  • Step 1: When you arrive at the vehicle location based on instructions received you will upload a selfie of yourself with your driver’s license and send this via messaging to Overdrive Car Rentals. This is to prevent fraud and ensure that no one can pose as you and put yourself at risk for additional liability.
  • Step 2: Overdrive will provide you with the location of the keys or a code to obtain the keys at the vehicle.
  • Step 3: Take some photos of the vehicle’s condition to ensure that you are not liable for any damage which may already exist on the vehicle. Be sure to capture the fuel and mileage.
  • Step 4: Safe travels!

Incidentals

Bring the vehicle back at the same level as you received it. If it requires premium fuel then make sure to save the receipt. If you don’t then we will charge you based on how low the gas came back. See the complete fuel policy here.

We will pay camera and mail-in tickets on your behalf and then charge your payment method with a processing fee. Find out more on this by visiting our Violations Policy here.
